BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra - Prokofiev in Concert
Isabelle Faust is the soloist in Prokofiev's Second Violin Concerto, composed shortly after the composer's return to Russia in 1935, and a direct result of Prokofiev's decision to reach out to a mass Soviet audience. The work's soaring lyricism and formal clarity ensured its immediate success and enduring popularity. Presented by Louise Fryer.
