Talk of the Devil: Fiendish Musicians In the final programme this week, lain Burnside explores how the Devil has continued to appear in the music of the past 50 years, from Igor Stravinsky 's neoclassical opera The Rake's Progress to Black Angels, George Crumb 's electric string quartet, which he was moved to compose in response to the Vietnam war. Today's programme also features the first broadcast of a new work that was specially commissioned forthis programme.
Unfolding, by Andrew Toovey , is a string quartet on the theme of the Devil and is performed by New Generation Artists the Szymanowski Quartet.
