Today Petroc Trelawny is in his home county for the first of two visits to the International Musicians Seminar. Set on the Cornish coast, this remarkable enterprise was founded in 1972 by Hungarian violinist Sandor Vegh, whose intention was to provide musicians with an environment of pure musical idealism in which to explore the repertoire. The BBC Philharmonic continues its series celebrating the composer's 80th birthday. Today, Arnold's conflict-ridden seventh symphony, composed in Dublin in 1973, and displaying the influence of the folk music he heard there.
