Where Cultures Meet
For 700 years up to the end of the 15th century, Spain benefited from a unique coexistence of Arab, Jewish and Christian cultures. Lucie Skeaping explores the remarkable musical results of this crossfertilisation, and Austrian ensemble Accentus perform a selection of this diverse and unusual music.

Live from the City Hall, Newcastle upon Tyne. The Northern Sinfonia's pairing of Schoenberg and Haydn brings together two of the most progressive voices in European classical music in unfamiliar guise. Schoenberg began the second chamber symphony in 1906, completing it in 1939, towards the end of his life. His Suite in G, composed for a college string orchestra in 1934, is also a strikingly tonal work. Haydn's keyboard concerto in D of 1784 relates more to the symphonic concerto style of the young Mozart than to the concerto grosso models of Haydn's other early concertos.
