(1841-94). This week Donald Macleod looks at the I ife and work of the French composer Emmanuel Chabrier , who spent most of his adult life as a civil servant at the Ministry of the Interior. Chabrierwas a spectacular pianist, prone to assaulting the instrument (which often came off worst), and a friend and confidant of Parisian artists.
