Stan Getz
Julian Joseph presents the music oftenor saxophonist Stan Getz , whose distinctive sound was evident even during his early big band work with Woody Herman and Stan Kenton. Getz achieved enormous popularity in the sixties with a series of bossa nova albums featuring Charlie Byrd , Antonio Carlos Jobim and Joao and Astrud Gilberto. His later groups included players such as Chick Corea , Steve Swallow , Tony Williams and Airto Moreira. In 1989 the BBC recorded Stan Getz at the Glasgow International Jazz Festival. Joining him were Kenny Barron (piano),
Ray Drummond (bass) and Ben Riley (drums).
