An exploration of how the work of Russian poet Joseph Brodsky is informed by the theme of exile, not only from a country but also from a language. A protege of the great Anna Akhmatova , Brodsky was sent to a labour camp in northern Russia and later into exile abroad where he began writing fluently in English. In 1987 he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature.
