Monteverdi wrote his last operatic masterpiece at the age of 75, having survived the plague and war which swept across Italy in the 1630s. In the last of this week's five programmes Donald Macleod examines the stories surrounding The Coronation of Poppea and plays excerpts from three different recordings.
