England are the setting of Glyn Maxwell 's new long poem based on the legend of the Flying Dutchman. The hero of the poem, Edmund Lea , is condemned to a train ride into eternity, so Glyn Maxwell spends a day as a train passenger.

Howard Barker 's Scenes from an Execution was highly acclaimed on its first production in 1986. The action is set in Venice, where the artist Galactia struggles to portray the grim reality of battle against the wishes of her patrons.
