Robert Wilson , one of the most inventive directors in contemporary theatre, returns to London's West End with La Maladie de la Mort, a theatrical version of Marguerite Duras 's exploration of love and death, with a score by Hans Peter Kuhn Hermione Lee discusses the production and Duras's influence on modern French culture. And eavesdropping on art: in his book Behind the Picture, Martin Kemp tries to resolve contradictory stories about the value and meaning of art in the Renaissance. Night Waves investigates.

Geoffrey Baskerville follows Dussek on his travels through Europe. For two years, Dussek was Kapellmeister to Prince Louis Ferdinand of Prussia, and he followed his employer from one battlefield to another, playing, drinking and generally living the good life. His Concerto for Two Pianos was premiered the night before the prince's death at the battle of Saalfeld in October 1806.
