Earlier today a large number of yachts from Holland arrived at Torbay in Devon to mark the tercentenary of another crossing from Holland, that of William of Orange and his fleet which resulted in the Glorious Revolution of 1688. Fred Bachrach , Emeritus Professor of English at the University of Leiden, was on one of the yachts and reflects on the importance of the two journeys.
