In his old age Elgar was displeased by his songs.
They were mostly written in the years before his public recognition. Time has revealed them to contain more of the mature Eigar than perhaps he would have accepted. Nine of the songs are performed by DAVID WILSON-JOHNSON (bar) with DAVID OWEN NORRIS (piano)
