Opera in three acts

The opera tells in a mixture of heroic and coniical terms, the story of Orlando, Ariosto's Orlando Furioso, who is turned into a ferocious madman when Angelica, the beautiful Queen of Cathay, rejects him in favour of the knight Medoro.
The intervention of supernatural powers finally restores Orlando's sanity.
