Arnold Cooke Cello Concerto (BBC commission: world premiere)
Sir Lennox Berkeley says:
"Many music-lovers will welcome a new work by Arnold Cooke, whose Cello Concerto receives its world premiere tonight. Cooke's music has been somewhat neglected of late, I feel - perhaps because it is so firmly embedded in tradition. There's certainly nothing experimental about it - but surely there's room for music of a traditional nature that shows such excellent craftsmanship."
