Fifty years ago British forces were engaged in a brutal and terrifying battle against an unknown enemy that operated in secret cells hidden within mainstream society. The place was Kenya and the enemy, the feared and savage Mau Mau. This is the story of Eric Holyoak, a white European settler who, with a group of captured Mau Mau fighters, developed new counter-insurgency techniques that were to change the entire course of the war.
