in 1943 scientist Albert Hoffmann took a dose of D-lysergic acid diethylamide, a substance that he'd first synthesised five years earlier. This was the first LSD "trip". The drug was to change everything from music to social mores when its use became widespread in the 1960s. Presented by Nigel Wrench, with contributions from those who were at the heart of the LSD explosion in Britain, including Dr Susan Blackmore and Hawkwind's Dave Brock.
