After a few years in which his career appeared to be in decline, David Bowie returned to critical and popular acclaim with his 1993 album Black Tie White
Noise. In May he was filmed with his backing band at the Hollywood Center Studios in Los Angeles performing tracks from the album and talking about his life and work.
Bowie's marriage to
Somalian supermodel Iman provided the inspiration to much of Black Tie White Noise, and indeed the album opens with an instrumental piece, The
Wedding, composed as an accompaniment to the ceremony.
Other songs included in the film are the hit singles Jump
They Say and Miracle Goodnight, the Cream standard I Feel Free and Morrissey's I Know It's Gonna Happen Someday
(The Man Who Fell to Earth, which stars David Bowie , follows this programme.)
