Return of the wildlife documentary series.
March of the Flamebirds. It's the most desolate place on earth, an inferno of heat. Yet, once in a while, heavy rain transforms the Makgadikgadi Pans - a vast sea of salt on the edge of the Kalahari Desert in southern Africa - into a shallow lake, and thousands of flamingoes arrive overnight. This programme presents spectacular film of these breeding colonies and a fascinating record of 40,000 baby flamingoes walking - not flying - to the nearest water once the lake bed rapidly begins to dry. Their 50-mile migration will take many weeks.
Wildlife cameraman and helicopter pilot Tim Liversedge won four international awards for his filming of this emotional story of survival against all the odds. Narrated by David Attenborough. Series producer Mike Beynon
