First showing on network television for this film biography of naturalist Dian Fossey , featuring some remarkable wildlife footage and starring Sigoumey Weaver Bryan Brown
Full of high ideals and a passion for nature, Fossey arrives in Africa to research the rare mountain gorillas living in the Virunga mountains of south-east Congo. But, accused of spying, she is forced across the border into Rwanda where she establishes a new research centre and dedicates her life to dismantling the mass of misinformation about these creatures. Under constant threat from poachers, Fossey has to train her own army of local vigilantes and leads an increasingly solitary life. Even romance doesn't diminish her commitment to her life's work.
