A sweeping two-part American drama which tells the story of General George Armstrong
Custer and the turbulent times of the Plains Indian War.
Starring Gary Cole Rosanna Arquette
1866: the Seventh Cavalry is formed, under the leadership of General Custer, to protect the westward-moving white settlers from hostile Indians. Over the next ten years Custer establishes his own legend as a peerless Indian fighter, despite a volatile temperament and a streak of cruelty. During the same period, government laws lead to a growing resentment among the Indians, embodied in a fiery young warrior called Crazy Horse. As their bitterness erupts into violence, it is the controversial Custer who is asked to resolve the issue - once and for all. Part two is tomorrow at 9.30pm.
