starring Bette Davis, Penny Fuller, George Hearn
Despite the loss of her husband, Esther Cimino is determined to retain their music store and lifestyle. But at 73 she is inclined to be forgetful, and occasionally irrational. When she is hospitalised and casually diagnosed as irreversibly senile only her grand-daughter contests the view. Together she and the redoubtable widow begin a struggle to regain Mrs Cimino's independence. Bette Davis gives one of the most powerful performances of her later career in this moving drama.

Dramatic journeys in five people's lives with Desmond Wilcox The Golden Voyage
Fifty years ago the Queen Mary sailed on her historic maiden voyage to New York - the largest, most elegant and most celebrated of the great passenger liners. Even before her launch she had become a maritime legend, and went on to win the Blue Riband for the fastest transatlantic crossing. Half a century later, some veterans of that trip met at a party with HM Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, before sailing on the QE2 to re-create that dramatic first transatlantic crossing. But for a handful of survivors of that maiden journey, including Larry Adler, it was to be a commemorative voyage with a difference; not all went as planned. There was romance, sentiment - and drama.

Heavyweight Championship Boxing from Wolverhampton Horace Notice
(Commonwealth Champion) v Proud Kilimanjaro (Challenger)
There should be plenty of 'home' support tonight for the unbeaten Notice, who was bom nearby and is now one of Terry Lawless's stable. But in his first defence of the Commonwealth title he faces a real giant in the 6' 5", 16 1/2stone Zimbabwe challenger. This evening's Ron Gray promotion is organised in association with Barrett/Duff.

Rowing's Perfect Pair
Few sportsmen in the world can match the feats of Steve Redgrave and Andy Holmes , who won Olympic gold in Britain's coxed four in 1984, and this summer added Commonwealth and World titles for good measure.
GERALD SINSTADT reports on the mental and physical effort that has produced British rowing's most successful pairing.
