It is the country's busiest ambulance station. The shop-talk is of knifings, suicides ... and the babies that have been delivered.
For ex-nurse Tracie Norris and Richard Rogers , who used to work in a bank, the first week in emergency ambulance Bloomsbury 3 is like an assault course.
Seasoned instructor
Don Parsons is on hand, but there is extra pressure on Tracie and Richard, fresh as they are from training school.
They have got new cardiac equipment which brings the London Ambulance Service into line with American paramedics.
Meanwhile, newly-qualified Elaine Bennett and Dave Webb battle with the mounting pressures of traffic chaos, the closing of hospital casualty departments - and the increasing threat of violence to ambulance crews, called out to emergencies where they never know what to expect.
