Wednesday Matinee: A Piano for Mrs Cimino

on BBC One London

starring Bette Davis, Penny Fuller, George Hearn
Despite the loss of her husband, Esther Cimino is determined to retain their music store and lifestyle. But at 73 she is inclined to be forgetful, and occasionally irrational. When she is hospitalised and casually diagnosed as irreversibly senile only her grand-daughter contests the view. Together she and the redoubtable widow begin a struggle to regain Mrs Cimino's independence. Bette Davis gives one of the most powerful performances of her later career in this moving drama.
