Watford's exciting, direct style of football made them runners-up to Liverpool on their arrival in the Canon
League First Division in the 1982/3 season.
With Liverpool's polish and Watford's constant effort, the fixtures between these two clubs have usually led to plenty of goals, with Liverpool so far having the edge.
With the top of the table now sorting itself out,

A ten-part natural history of Britain and Ireland
Presented by Julian Pettifer 2: Streams of Life
Leaping salmon return every year to our lakes and rivers that after the Ice Age became the lifeblood of a reawakened landscape. Today the lochs of Scotland are home to rare black-throated divers and Slavonian grebes; in the mountain streams dippers brave the torrents that mark the end of winter.
Downstream shoal dace and minnow, shadowed by the skulking pike and predatory water scorpion. In lush beds of reed the secretive water rail, booming bittern and musical bearded reedling find shelter.
From its source a river carves a richly varied course before mingling with the sea where its salmon wait to return..... Photography ANDREW ANDERSON MIKE HERD, MIKE POTTS

'The little geezer in the head.... with the hammer'. And he's always there, says one of the addicts in tonight's programme.
Last July Drugwatch tackled the problem of Britain's growing addiction to drugs, and how that trend might be halted or even reversed.
Tonight some of those who took part - 20 addicts, ex-addicts and parents - come together again and open their lives in the hope of helping others understand and cope with the commonplace mystery of drug addiction.
Why they started, when it hit them that they were hooked, how their parents reacted, how they struggled with failure and success and, most significantly, where they reached their personal crossroads of change.
'Seeing the life come back to my parents' eyes ... was almost like having my first fix'

Phoenix Bird
The Tale of a Warrior
'Killing another human being is beyond description. Each time it's like killing a little bit of yourself.'
James R. Jarrett survived a violent upbringing, and later the war in Vietnam. Survival is now his business. He runs the Phoenix Firearms
Training Centre in Arizona. The courses Jarrett offers prepare his clients to meet their own worst fears - in mock ambushes, muggings and raids. And there's a philosophy to go with the training: 'Survival requires no apology'. Jarrett has come to believe there is a stark choice between trust and survival. He has made his choice, and has adopted a personal creed to match: 'I do believe in God, but I really don't think he gives a damn about us'. Photography
