In 1715 the finest French and Italian painters working in England were brought together to create, for the flamboyant Duke of Chandos, a church in the fashionable baroque style. Until four years ago it looked certain that this last glimmer of the Duke's glory was doomed to fade and crumble. But the efforts of the parish raised the enormous sum of money needed to restore the interior by a team of specialist restorers from Germany.

A natural history adventure
Autana: a sandstone pinnacle projecting nearly a mile out of remote jungle in Venezuela. Its table-top summit has been isolated for thousands of years, with unique animals and plants 'suspended in time'.
The Challenge: to reach the summit by parachute, then abseil down the cliffs to huge caves - the ancient pathway of a long-forgotten underground river.
The Team: international, including two world champion sky-divers, a parachute designer, natural history film-makers, climbers, and a paramedic. Now, research is on the verge of a major discovery - scientists predict that, within at most a few months, they will know what causes the disease.
