Christmas at Canterbury Four days after Christmas 1170, Archbishop Thomas a Becket was murdered in his cathedral at Canterbury. His martyrdom made Canterbury the holiest place of pilgrimage in Britain.
Cliff Michelmore meets some modern-day pilgrims from east Kent to discover what Christmas was like in Canterbury in the past and to see how the festival is being celebrated in 1985. Cliff is joined by Sally Magnusson and Ian Gall , who tell the story of the Nativity; while Roger Royle discovers the spirit of Christmas present. 0 come. all ye faithful (Adeste fideles); The truth from above; God rest you merry, gentlemen; Nativity carol; Unto us is bom a son; Rocking; Away in a manger; Good King
