A feature film starring Gene Kelly Dan Dailey
Cyd Charisse with Dolores Gray Michael Kidd
One of the last of MGM's great dance musicals, choreographed by Michael Kidd , who also joins Gene Kelly and Dan Dailey in front of the camera to play one of the three soldiers who meet for a reunion ten years after the war is over.
Many of the numbers are startlingly original - including one with the three stars dancing on dustbin lids! Songs featured include ' Once upon a time ', ' I like myself and 'Thanks a lot, but no thanks'.

A series of eight films exploring America and its botanical history.

Many surprises are waiting for David Bellamy as he takes part in the 200-millionth Appalachian spring: what is the mysterious Oriental connection? What is the strangler from the East? How could a foreign body destroy all of the American chestnuts? There are clues among the mosses, the flowering plants and even the salamanders. And as the leaves turn colour in the fall, he finds that the bounty of these woodlands once supported much more than an enormous serpent and a line of marching bears...

Farmers We Can't Afford
Presented by Richard Lindley
Like the rest of Europe, we've encouraged our farmers to produce more food than we can eat by giving them more public money than we give to any other industry.
They're a success story all right - but at the taxpayers' expense.
Agriculture is about to bankrupt the Common Market, but the member governments still can't agree what to do. Will they now face up to the farmers we can no longer afford?
