from Scarborough
Most people think of Scarborough as a holiday resort and conference centre, but it still has a small fishing industry - and in tonight's programme Francis Appleby and his colleagues in the FILEY FISHERMEN'S CHOIR perform a medley of sea hymns. Among the people Geoffrey Wheeler meets are Kathy Staff (Nora Batty from Last of the Summer Wine), who's in Scarborough for the summer season, and a group of Christians who are involved in theatre of a less conventional kind.
Their hymns are among those sung by local people in the Church of St Martin-on-the-Hill.
Come, let us worship (Epiphany); My God loves me (Plalslr d'amour); God-head here in hiding (Adoro te); God moves in a mysterious way (London New); The Church's one foundation (Aurella), I serve a risen Saviour; Praise the Lord. you heavens, adore him (Austria)
