The second of seven programmes
Alien Australians
Narrated by Robert Powell
As courters and captors, Australian spiders use a cunning and sophistication we can but envy. It may be only blind instinct that enables the orb-weaver to construct her web in zero-gravity, but it's a feat that demands the superb technology typical of these highly successful Australians.

Rocking the Navy's Boat
The Government is about to take a decision which could bring into the open a simmering war inside the Ministry of Defence. It's about the way our warships are designed; the navy say their methods are best but they are being challenged-with ministerial encouragement-by a small private design team who say they can offer cheaper, better-armed ships.
Fred Emery reports on this argument between ministers and admirals, civil servants and scientists and on the unusual bitterness it has produced inside the navy.

If present trends continue, Britain will soon be the world leader in deaths from coronary heart disease. The plague will be more virulent here because other countries have started to fight back.
DR MICHAEL o'donnell investigates some of the major campaigns being fought in the United States. If Britain achieved the same reduction in heart disease, 40,000 lives a year would be saved.
