After King Kong has wrecked New York, producer Carl Denham has to flee from his creditors. On the old island, Denham and his band of treasure hunters rescue Kong s son from a quicksand bog. Thereafter, Prince Kong becomes an ally in their search for a hoard of long-lost jewels, guarded by age-old monsters.

When the US space agency learns that the Russians are close to landing men on the moon, a crash programme is mounted to train American astronauts in a lunar race. Unfortunately the only craft ready to ' go' is the outdated Mercury capsule, and the mission becomes increasingly dangerous.
This science-fiction film, made only two years before the first actual moon-landing, was directed by Robert Altman who was later to make his name with M*A*S*H.
