Today, one red deed hind is worth a hundred sheep. Five years ago deer were considered a major pest. But velvet farming is controversial, its markets unpredictable. for Harvest, from Sandwich, Kent
Harvest is now one of the most important events in the Christian calendar and at St Mary's Church they celebrate every year with a harvest supper and hymn-singing. This year it has particular significance for farm-worker Peter Hambrook, as it is his 30th working harvest.
Among other people whom Geoffrey Wheeler meets is George Gibb, a coal miner, who talks about his own harvest of the earth and shepherdess Suzanne Stephens.
Tonight, together with hundreds of other people from Sandwich and outlying villages, they are gathered in St Mary's to give thanks for Harvest and sing their favourite hymns.
Come, ye thankful people, come (St George); For the fruits of his creation (East Acklam); O breath of life (Sunset): Lord of the dance (Shaker); We plough the fields and scatter (Wir Pflugen); Morning has broken (Bunessan); Fair waved the golden corn (Holyrood); Praise my soul (Praise my soul)

Christmas Evans (1766-1838)
Great preaching has changed the course of British history, and great preachers were the celebrities or public enemies of their day. This is the third in a seriec of four dramatic reconstructions of sermons delivered by great preachers. Sermon written by DENIS SHAW and based on the sermons of Christmas Evans, with additional writing by CLIFFORD DVANS Introduced by Colin Morris
Welshmen think in visions. Christmas Evans' sermons were theology put into dreams. Every time he had a point to make he saw it as a story - a story which he turned into drama, with one man playing all the parts.
