Dieting and keeping slim has become an obsession in society today. Many of us are engaged in a constant battle to keep our weight down.
In this programme PETER WILLIAMS talks to people whose failure to diet has led them to use drastic and dangerous methods for controlling their weight.
Their plight has come to the attention of several doctors, who believe that they may be suffering from a psychiatric illness distinct from anorexia nervosa. Named ' bulimia nervosa' or ' dietary chaos ', the medical profession are struggling to find out the size of the problem, what causes it. and what the chances are of helping these patients, both men and women.
