Val, John and Peter are away on foreign location making films for Blue Peter's return in September.
But today you have a chance to share again their adventures in Ceylon. John and Peter try bathing elephants-with disastrous results. Val meets a Buddhist monk who is only 8 years old, and John climbs to the bottom of a deep smelly pit in search of gem stones.

'A Policeman's lot is not a happy one,' they say, but it's a different Story for the Police Dog - as Peter West finds out at the Metropolitan Police Dog Training Establishment at Keston, Kent.

Tails wag a lot during training-whilst workers like 'Pytch' and 'Leo' - both labradors - show us how effortless it is to find drugs, guns, and explosives which a human being would never detect.

Five true stories of people who survived against all odds
At midnight on 1 October 1969, George Fletcher and Stephen Hambrook knew there was an 80 per cent chance they would be destroyed. The mine they were working on contained 1,500 lbs of explosive: the time fuse had seven seconds left to run.
This film reconstructs that night with the Bomb Disposal men who were there at the time. What happened to the land mine, and why was 1 October the most dangerous night of their lives?
A co-production with the Australian Broadcasting Commission

The top-spot award-winning new comedy series adapted by Norman Lear from the favourite BBC series Till Death Us Do Part created by Johnny Speight

Lionel and Archie are in complete agreement on one basic issue: it is ludicrous to suggest that at least 12 per cent of Archie's neighbours should be black. After all, as Lionel points out, if you follow that kind of reasoning through to its logical conclusion then 88 per cent of the Harlem Globetrotters would have to be white!
Starring Carroll O'Connor as Archie Bunker, Jean Stapleton as Edith Bunker, Rob Reiner as Mike Stivic, Sally Struthers as Gloria Stivic, Michael Evans as Lionel Jefferson
