It was 40 years from the day of its first non-stop run that this famous old engine, now privately owned by Alan Pegler, took some 300 railway enthusiasts on a never-to-be-repeated journey.

The Spinners are a Liverpool folk group who have been operating for over 10 years. They did a series on BBC1 this summer from the Octagon Theatre in Bolton. Famous for audience participation, they will encourage the spectators to join them in their traditional and lesser-known carols.
Tonight's programme is part of a concert recorded in the unique atmosphere of the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.
