However, this year a new element is introduced into the proceedings when George Kingston is unexpectedly kidnapped from the steps of the Town Hall. He is taken to an isolated hideout at the top of one of his own buildings and held prisoner. Worse still, Tom Danby helped in the kidnapping and George's sister Angela blames Sarah for the affair.

In this, the final programme in the series Christopher Brasher interviews Sir Frank Kearton
For two years Sir Frank, as Chairman of the Industrial Reorganisation Corporation, acted as midwife to many of the take-overs and mergers which have swept away many famous company names in a dramatic reorganisation of British industry-giving industry a sleeker, more competitive image. He himself is the victor of a famous take-over battle-between I.C.I, and his own company, Courtaulds.
What lies behind these take-overs? Why does the Government take such a close interest? Why have we languished so long in the world economic league table? Will we ever get out of our present troubles?
