With Jean Kent as Mrs. Da Tanka, Geoffrey Bayldon as Mr. Mileson, Arthur Lowe as Colonel Harrap, Peter Bathurst as Colonel Gregson

The setting is an off-season seaside hotel. Year after year Mr. Mileson has returned to this scene of his youth for his holiday, a picture of Cynthia, his long-lost love, accompanying him everywhere. Into his quiet world crashes Mrs. Da Tanka, a figure of pure vulgarity, almost always drunk, and excessively outspoken. Mr. Mileson has never been confronted with such an opponent before...

"Jean Kent was brilliant" (Stan Reynolds, Guardian)
"Good performances... camera work delightful... splendidly and perceptively dressed" (Virginia Ironside, Daily Mail)
"It is very funny as well as tragic" (George Melly, Observer)
