Top of the Form competes with Canada's Reach for the Top in this international series.
A joint BBC-CBC production
Two matches were played in Glasgow, and before this first one the Canadians were given a chance to take in a little of Scotland's atmosphere. They took the trip 'Doon the Water', sailing from Gourock to the Kyles of Bute, which gave everybody but the Scottish team pronunciation problems with names like Colintraive, Tighnabruaich, Innellan, and so on.

The Harkers go home-hunting; Mrs. Heenan refuses Langley's advice concerning Burroughs; Vivienne and Turner dine tete-a-tete.
From the Midlands

Eden Brothers, the light engineering firm in BBC-1's serial The Newcomers, has been without a general manager since Ellis Cooper's death last February. Last week Charles Turner was seen for the first time - filling the vacancy.
Turner is a down-to-earth, no-nonsense fellow who has worked his way up to executive level from the shop floor. What will be of particular interest to devotees of this programme is that he is a bachelor and that - for the time being, anyway - he will be staying with Ellis Cooper's widow, Vivienne. It will be interesting to find out how she copes with this headstrong man who still has a rough edge to his character.
Neil Hallett, who plays the part of Turner, is himself a bachelor. After serving in the R.A.F. during the war he played in rep. and then turned to films and TV. He has appeared in several serials and was most recently seen on BBC-tv in a Comedy Playhouse with Milo O'Shea.
Neil's hobbies are golf, water skiing, and bullfighting - he has even tried his hand at it himself.
