1968 has been Lambeth Conference year. Briefly the neo-gothic calm of Lambeth was disturbed by an assembly of some hundreds of Anglican bishops.

He is the subject of tonight's programme, which was filmed at his palaces in Lambeth and Canterbury, and in France.
