Robert Cundy reports from Surtsey on The Fire Giant.
Less than five years ago the world's newest island, Surtsey, burst into life as a volcanic eruption some seventeen miles south-east of Iceland. It gave scientists their first opportunity to record and study the growth of a new piece of the earth's crust from the beginning.
Strict control is kept on visitors to the island, but last summer Robert Cundy was able to accompany international scientists on their various visits to Surtsey to study how the island is producing life from the sea and from the air.

Extracts from the sermons of St. Augustine of Hippo A.D. 354-430
Translated by Edmund Hill.
Delivered by Roger Delgado.
In North Africa in the fifth century St. Augustine preached on the Old Testament Psalms as if they had been spoken by Jesus Christ and addressed to Augustine's own contemporaries. Fr. Edmund Hill has translated the sermons as if they were addressed to us. With the texts sung to an equally modern setting, parts of the sermons are delivered from the pulpit of All Hallows, London Wall.
(Other extracts on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday)
