The assassination of Leon Trotsky - that is the subject of tonight's documentary style play. The human instruments of Trotsky's bloody end were a mother-and-son assassination team - the weapon a poilet, or mountaineer's ice axe. The assassins were Spanish Communists Caridad and Ramon Mercader. A third member of the execution squad was their boss and Caridad's lover Leonid Eitingon, a Colonel of the dreaded G.P.U., the Russian secret police...

John Abineri follows a part of his route and recalls some of his discoveries - which led to conflict and suffering, but ultimately to the founding of the Society of Friends or Quakers.
