Ruisselle, which was awarded the 1955 Italia Prize for a musical work with text, is a poem for voices, music, and microphones in which the sound elements— combined, contrasted, or superimposed-are so treated as to create a poetic atmosphere within which the action can develop unhindered. Kis, a poet, retraces the course of a dream in search of the image from which it flowed. This image is Ruisselle, the impalpable creation of Cacta la Verte, the queen of the forbidden land of dreams.

Mr. Page reviews "Tropical Architecture in the Humid Zone" by Maxwell Fry and Jane Drew, recently published. He considers in particular post-war contributions to the urgent housing problems of tropical countries, and gives his reasons for believing that the present tendency to overlook local resources and practice in favour of building techniques imported from Europe is wrong and even dangerous.
