A Mass for Christmas Morning was written for Charles Williaum and the Order of the Co-inherence (by request).' The Mass bears a quotation from a collection of poems by the late Charles Williams entitled Taliessin through Logres: 'he saw over the Empire the lucid flash of all flesh shirting white on the sullen white of the snow.'

The speaker, who is Censor of St. Catherine's Society, Oxford, was on irhe staff of tlhe European Service from 1940 to 194S.
