This lecture is concerned with the ideas of Claude Henri de Rouvroy , Comte de St Simon, who predicted, analysed, and welcomed the new centralised society of the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries with disturbing accuracy.

5-Byzantine Chant
An outstanding modern interpretation of Byzantine liturgical music was heard in July this year at Utrecht during the Congress of the International Society for Musical Research. A small male-voice choir, trained by a musicologist and singer from the Ukraine, was responsible for these interpretations of Byzantine chan.ts, records of which will be heard in this programme.
