Eugene Goossens, before he left this country to devote himself to conducting in America, was one ot the leaders of British music. His chamber music and songs stamp him as a composer of considerable gifts. His
Piano Quintet was composed in 1919. It is in one movement in the form of a fantasy consisting of three sections, all of which are based on the opening theme heard in the short introduction.

Animals communicate with one another not only by sounds, but also by movements of face or body, and by smells. It is especially important for animals living together in herds or flocks to be able to communicate. Birds migrating at night keep together by cries, deer and dogs communicate by smells. Bees communicate by dance and by scent. This is an instinct. The noises of apes and many bird cries are also instincts, but birds learn part of their songs. This is an outline of this term's last biology talk which Munro Fox is to give today. (From Midland)

' Agriculture in War-Time '
J. A. Scott Watson
In spite of our large imports of food, the home farmer still plays an essential part in the feeding of the nation. In time of peace the most important service of the home farmer is to produce the ' protective ' or '.health ' foods-fresh milk, potatoes, and fresh vegetables, eggs, and fruit. In time of war the farmer would have to increase, his output of bare necessities and would have to make himself less dependent upon imported raw materials.
This evening
Professor Scott Watson will discuss the possibility of an. agricultural policy which would make the most use of our land in time of peace, and would prepare for the emergency of war.

Wyndham Lewis
Besides being an artist of repute, Wyndham Lewis (not to be confused with D. B. Wyndham Lewis , who is a frequent contributor to the RADIO TIMES) is himself one of the few contemporary English writers in whom the lost tradition of English satire still survives. It is all the more interesting that he is to talk about the place of satire in England.
Many listeners will have read his books, especially The Apes of God He has not broadcast since 1935.
