Eugene Goossens, before he left this country to devote himself to conducting in America, was one ot the leaders of British music. His chamber music and songs stamp him as a composer of considerable gifts. His
Piano Quintet was composed in 1919. It is in one movement in the form of a fantasy consisting of three sections, all of which are based on the opening theme heard in the short introduction.
