The above quotation is a sixteenth-century description of Sir Francis Drake , the greatest of the Elizabethan seamen. You will hear this afternoon something about him and the ships of his time as well as of the growth of England's trade and the increasing importance of her Navy until the days of Captain Cook.

Once again the famous fashion expert, Mrs. Alison Settle , who has been adding to her radio laurels by her talks on fashion, is to describe a dress parade at the British Industries Fair, which opened at Earl's Court last Monday. She will describe some of the dresses worn by the mannequins, and listeners will hear about the material, length of skirt, colour, and so forth that are likely to be fashionable this spring and summer. In fact, this will be a broadcast on the trend of fashion.
