L. G. BRAUND : How's that' ?
Since the age of fifteen, when he appeared as a professional at the Oval,
Len Braund has been associated with cricket, and has been through every department of the game—bowling, bat-ting, and fielding. Mr. Braund used to play for Surrey, and later for Somerset, and he has also taken part in many Test Matches both in England and in Australia. Soon after the War his active participation in the game ceased and from 1921 onwards he has been a county umpire. It is interesting to note that to become an umpire it is necessary to pass a thorough medical examination, for there is a great deal of physical and mental strain attached to the work.

An After-Harvest Party

Wittington with THE WIRELESS MALE VOICE CHORUS and THE B.B.C. THEATRE ORCHESTRA

In accordance with the time-honoured custom of the village, the After-Harvest Party will be held tonight in the Tithe-Barn by kind permission of Mr. George.
We are indeed fortunate in having this year the services of distinguished London artists in addition to our better-known (locally) local talent.
The best thanks of the village are due to the Rector, who will preside, for providing the choir. We all know the work our worthy churchwarden, Mr. Willetts, has done in years gone by as well as this, and we hope Little Wittington will reward him as he deserves by rolling up properly. The catering arrangements are in the quick and capable hands of the Women's Institute, so that department should be all right, any.way.
We are asked by the Rector to request that spoons and saucers should not be rattled during the items, as last year. In conclusion, it is hoped that a good time will be had by all. (Reprinted by kind permission, from ' The Little Wittington Parish Magazine.')
