' A Child's Book of Saints ' by William Canton
Told by David
In the first sweet hours of the restful night Isidore became aware that he was walking among strange fields on a hillside, and on the top of a hill some distance away there were the white walls and low flat-roofed houses of a little town; and some one was speaking to him and saying, ' These are the fields in which the Shepherds watched, and that rocky pathway leads up the slope to Bethlehem.'

Living Off the Country
Speakers:
Peter Fleming who has travelled, widely in East and Central Asia and Brazil
Patrick Leigh Fermor who knows the Balkans, Greece, the Caribbean, and Central America
Dr. A. J. (Jock) Marshall the Australian explorer and zoologist whose experience has been mainly in New Guinea
Robert Thompson who. during the war, escaped from Hong Kong and travelled across China to rejoin the British Forces in Burma
Chairman, Bernard Fergusson who marched into Burma with both the Wingate expeditions
There are two good reasons for ' living off the country.' The first is necessity and the second a desire to experience hitherto untasted delicacies. The five men who meet together in this programme to discuss the seasonal topic of food and drink have eaten the local food for both reasons in the farthest quarters of the globe.

The British Wireless for the Blind Fund makes this one appeal each year for funds to provide wireless sets for blind people in England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
The Fund would like to place on record its great appreciation of the generous response received from listeners over the years-but. again. approximately 4,000 sets will be required to meet the need of the newly-blinded, for some 11,000 people lose their sight each year. In addition. there is the need for replacement of old sets that are worn out after long years of constant use.
