A Northern notebook, introduced by James R. Gregson
Today's 'notebook' will discuss various aspects of holidays in wartime
Three people of widely differing views will meet over this highly topical question. Mr. H. C. Buckle of Harrogate will talk about wartime Sundays. A woman of the old school will ask whether holidays are ever desirable, and a Lancashire industrial worker, who is going holiday-less this year, will have his say in the matter.

played by Pauline Juler (clarinet) and Howard Ferguson (piano)
Debussy's Rhapsody was composed in 1909-10 for a public competition of the Ecole Nationale de Musique. A melodious but rather showy work, it was considered by Debussy himself to be ' one of the most pleasing pieces I have ever written ' ,
Some months after its first performance in 1910 Debussy arranged the piano part for orchestra and indicated that the solo part could be played by either clarinet or saxophone.
