ELIZABETH EVANS
I love thee ; My goal; and On the way home
Although at the beginning of the century the music of Grieg enjoyed great popularity and he was generally considered to be one of the great figures of the second half of the nineteenth century, except for a handful of his works, such as the ' Peer Gynt' suites, he is unjustly ignored today.
Some of his best work is seen in the smaller forms. His songs at their best may well bear comparison with the finest of the great German lieder composers.

A musical comedy of mass observation Book and lyrics by Allan MacKinnon and Jack House. Music by Gerald Shaw
Cast with the Cavendish Three, Revue Chorus, and BBC Variety Orchestra, conducted by Charles Shadwell. Produced by Robin Russell and Eric Fawcett
This radio musical comedy is Ruritania up to date - Mass Observation, aeroplanes, and Fleet Street, in place of couriers, coaches, and proclamations. In short, behind the constitution of Morania stands firm the financial support of 'Moranian Molasses'.
All the human ingredients of this kind of traditional musical comedy are firmly in their place - the hero in one camp, the heroine in the other, spying, plotting, revolution, and, of course, inevitably, that sort of love which both unites lovers and smooths out plots.
